Problem

After training, moisture and sweat stay trapped inside sports shoes, causing unpleasant odours and bacterial growth. Air drying is slow, and most existing shoe dryers are bulky, plug-powered and inconvenient to use on the go.

250,000

sweat glands in the feet can produce around half a pint of sweat every day.

Solution

AERØ gives athletes a convenient way to remove moisture, reduce odour and keep their shoes fresh wherever they train — battery powered, handled, and sized to live in a kit bag.

CAD, prototyping & testing

Evaluated with target users

After testing early concepts with users, I modelled the product's external form and internal components in 3D CAD before producing a functional 3D-printed prototype, then put it back in front of the same target users.
